1. Andrean: The 59ers (25-8) are well positioned to make a run at a Class 3A state title after playing in 4A the last two seasons. Michael Doolin, a junior pitcher who committed to Vanderbilt, is back after finishing 8-0 with a 1.59 ERA. Clay Thompson, a crafty senior left-hander who committed to Oakland, was 6-1 last season. Position players back are outfielder Nick Fushi, a Ball State recruit who hit .408, and first baseman Joe Rycerz.
